iPhone 20 Rumors: 10 Features Apple Could Introduce in 2027

The iPhone 20 rumors are already creating excitement, even though Apple has only recently introduced the iPhone 18 Pro models. Expected to arrive in September 2027, the iPhone 20 could become one of Apple’s biggest smartphone redesigns in years.

The timing makes the phone even more interesting. 2027 will mark 20 years since Steve Jobs introduced the first iPhone in 2007. Apple made its 10th anniversary special with the iPhone X, which introduced a major new design. The iPhone 20 could follow a similar path.

A completely new glass design

One of the biggest rumored changes is an all-glass, quad-curved design. Reports suggest that the display could curve around all four edges, making the phone look smoother and more seamless.

Apple may also use a thinner and brighter OLED panel. New display technology could help reduce thickness while improving light transmission and brightness.

Face ID and camera could disappear under the display

Apple has reportedly been working on placing Face ID sensors and the front camera underneath the screen. If the technology is ready, the iPhone 20 could finally remove the familiar display cutout.

This would give users a cleaner screen with fewer visible interruptions. However, this feature is still uncertain because similar plans have reportedly faced delays in the past.

Solid-state buttons may replace physical controls

The iPhone 20 could also remove traditional moving buttons. Apple is reportedly testing solid-state versions of the Side, Volume, Action and Camera Control buttons.

Instead of physically moving, these controls could use haptic feedback to make users feel like they are being pressed.

More Apple-made hardware

Apple could continue reducing its dependence on outside suppliers. An Apple-designed modem may reach premium iPhone models, while a custom camera sensor could improve dynamic range and image quality.

A21 chip and better battery technology

The iPhone 20 could feature an A21 chip, potentially built using second-generation 2nm technology. More advanced memory could also help the phone handle demanding AI tasks directly on the device.

Battery technology may receive an upgrade too. Apple is reportedly exploring silicon-anode batteries, which could provide more capacity without making the battery physically larger.

Familiar sizes, but a different experience

Despite the major design changes, Apple may keep two familiar sizes. The rumored models could remain close to 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch display sizes.

That means users may get a completely new-looking phone without having to adjust to a dramatically different size.

Could the iPhone 20 become a milestone device?

The iPhone 20 rumors point toward a phone that could combine several major changes at once. Curved glass, hidden sensors, solid-state buttons, a new processor, improved battery technology and more Apple-designed components could make it very different from today’s iPhones.

Still, these are reports about a device that is more than a year away. Apple can delay, change or cancel features before launch.

If even many of these rumored upgrades arrive, the iPhone 20 could become an important milestone for Apple and its 20-year smartphone journey.
