The move comes after an invite-only event in New York City’s Times Square upset many fans. The event was limited to influencers, content creators, and members of the press. Players who attended were able to catch a Mewtwo with perfect stats and a unique background.
The rare Pokémon also appeared on resale sites, with some sellers asking for hundreds or even thousands of dollars. This quickly became a hot topic among the Pokémon Go community.
Why Players Were Unhappy
